Painted en plein air, River Thames, Eton, Berkshire, Summer 2023.

Size: 14 x 16 inches ( framed).
Comes in hand finished off-white frame with gold edging.
“I have live locally in Eton for 26 years yet had never had the courage to tackle to complex scene of Eton Bridge. The complexity comes from the river boat traffic, most of the good views are on and off blocked by the continuous tourist river boat tours, but this has been a summer of overcoming fears and expanding my skills so I bravely set forth with oils and canvas.
It proved a very challenging painting not only because of the river boat traffic but also the continuous on and off hard rain. I had learned to paint in the rain earlier this summer, so soldiered on, to be rewarded at the end as the sun came through and three small yellow tourist motor boats came up the river slow enough for me the capture them. It was lovely to meet the many tourists who stopped by to chat and admire the painting and who also stayed to console me in the rain.”
