San Giorgio Maggiore Sunrise, Venice -SOLD
San Giorgio Maggiore Sunrise
Painted en plein air, Venice, November 2023.
Medium: Oil on canvas.
Size: 12 x 24 inches ( framed).
Comes in hand finished off-white frame with gold edging.
“I adored painting this picture the thrill of the rising sun and the immediacy of the changing light, gives a real thrill to the process. I rose at 5am and made my way in the dark to the water front. Not wanting to miss the sunrise I started painting as soon as there was the vaguest light. The advantage of going later in the year is the sunrise was this occurred at a more reasonable time, but also the sunrise passes much quicker . An exciting painting and a real adventure to paint.”
